Neuwerk Architekten + Ingenieure – 3D VDI Lösung

Herausforderung

Until now, the experts at Neuwerk Architekten + Ingenieure had to work with unwieldy mobile workstations or static PDF documents for mobile work scenarios on construction sites or in the home office.

For all architects, engineers and construction managers to work regardless of location, full access to the BIM and CAD system, Nemetscheck Allplan must be guaranteed. A cloud solution is not an option due to the bandwidth at the company location.

Lösung

After research and consultation with the software manufacturer Nemetscheck, it quickly became clear to the experts at Sysfacts that solutions from Citrix with NVIDIA GRID technology were required. Using many years of experience, the team in 3D virtualization recommended a detailed and realistic evaluation. For this purpose, we maintained a corresponding test cluster in our lab, equipped with various virtualization solutions and graphics cards. In consultation with the customer, the team developed a concrete test case catalog and after the evaluation environment was set up and optimized, the project managers and the customer’s test users could intensively test the solution and provide feedback.

After successfully evaluating the Citrix-based solution, Sysfacts worked out the concrete solution. Our consultants and technicians managed the project’s complete lifecycle, from procurement to final implementation and handover to the customer.

Through the technicans’ experience coupled with intensive testing, the team worked out the ideal parameters for all application areas. Users on LAN or high-value Internet connections enjoy the highest image quality with excellent performance, while connections via mobile communications were optimized for maximum bandwidth efficiency to avoid dropouts and artifacts.

Lessons learned

At the beginning of the 2020 pandemic, it became clear that the VDI solution was the right way to go: thanks to location-independent access to all important information, Neuwerk could continue working productively.
